Music is celebrated every day, every time we sing or play, every time a chord sequence or a melody catches someone’s attention. We improvise, we dance, we listen, we create, we share… Music is made in so many ways! It is also a way of knowing, relating and remembering. Sometimes it is there, pure and simple, and we don’t even notice it. Other times it is absent and it still sounds. We miss it. We like it, we dislike it, we love it, we hate it… As a phenomenon, there are those who study it endlessly in search of that mystery. But what is certain is that on this 1st October we continue to celebrate something that, in its essence, we don’t know what it is.
