Learning Outcomes

> Development of aural skills: inner hearing, relative pitch, musical memory, polyphonic and harmonic structures and comprehension of global music theory.

> Development of sight-reading skills: intervals, sound anticipation, recognition of rhythmic and melodic patterns.

> To provide contact with large variety of repertoire, style and interpretation aspects, that enhances connection between aural skills and performance. – To learn musical terminology generic definitions, concerning technique, musical genres and instrumentation


Syllabus

> Aural recognition of melodic and harmonic intervals, simple and compounded, played on the piano in various registers (continued).

> Score and aural recognition of 3 and 4 tone chords (continued).

> Harmonic functions (continued).

> Aural recognition of cadences (continued).

> Modes, diatonic scales, hexatonic, heptatonic and pentatonic scales (continued).

> Rhythm: memorization, readings and dictations (continued).

> Polyphonic recognition: memorization of excerpts, readings and dictations (continued).

> Polyphonic recognition: memorization of excerpts, readings and dictations (continued).


Teaching Methodologies

> Trabalho auditivo (rítmico, melódico, harmónico) com prática de memorização e escrita (ditados rítmicos, ditados de melodias tonais e modais, escrita de baixo cifrado a partir da audição de excertos de obras musicais, ditado de preenchimento de espaços, identificação de erros), identificação de intervalos, acordes, funções harmónicas e modos.

> Leitura rítmica (andamentos lentos de obras barrocas e métricas irregulares em obras do século XX), leitura cantada (tonal, modal e não tonal) a capella, monódica e a vozes, sem ou com acompanhamento ao piano.

> Análise auditiva, leitura e execução de obras de repertório de vários estilos e épocas em estudo progressivo, que se evidenciem na composição, na performance e na riqueza dos elementos musicais. Criar pequenas improvisações rítmicas, melódicas, harmónicas e polifónicas utilizando o instrumento ou a voz.
