Curricular Unit: Acompanhamento Instrumental ao Piano I
Cofr: LPI006
ECTS: 4
Cientific area: Performance Practices

Learning outcomes

The goal of this course unit is to foster interest in accompanying and promoting the performing skills of the student in collaboration with various musicians.
It should build a basis of the vocal repertoire and of various instruments (strings and woodwinds) as well as the accompanist’s listening development and his/her adaptation to the specific soloist.

Syllabus

Instrumental component – Baroque or classical concerti and pieces of free choice.
Vocal component – Antique arias or from cantata and songs or lieder of free choice(examples: Già il sole dal Gange by A. Scarlatti, Caro mio bem by G. Giordani, Das Veilchen K. 476 by W.A. Mozart or others of similar difficulty).

Teaching methodologies

Classes are organized in pairs of students, an instrumentalist or singer and a pianist, thus enabling the accompaniment skills. It is basically intended for the students to develop two types of work:
1. Work with prior individual preparation in the case of more complex sonatas, concerti or other type of works;
2. Development of sight-reading skills in classes with musicians in the case of easier works.
