As a strategic vector of the Metropolitana’s educational, artistic and cultural project, ANSO assumes quality as a decisive factor in its mission and in strengthening its organisational model.
The continuous improvement of training processes and of the means that allow it to expand its artistic activity depends on efficient and impartial evaluation mechanisms, centred on listening to the opinions of teachers, students, non-teaching professionals, employers and other stakeholders.

Institutional Evaluation
The Legal Framework for the Evaluation of Higher Education in Portugal (Law no. 38/2007, of 16 August) established the following as the objectives of quality evaluation:
Improving the quality of higher education institutions;
Providing information to society on the performance of higher education institutions;
Developing an internal institutional culture of quality assurance.
In fulfilment of the above, in 2018 ANSO underwent the institutional assessment process by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).

Accreditation of Study Cycles
The accreditation of study cycles, under the terms of article 52(1) of Decree-Law no. 65/2018, of 16 August, consists of verifying that the legal requirements for their creation and operation have been met. The results of the accreditation processes of the study cycles in operation at the ANSO can be consulted on the A3ES website and are available in the Degree in Music in the specific information for each option.
