MUSICAR: Communication and Dissemination

From the beginning of the project, the dissemination of the MUSICAR initiative and its various stages has relied on the regular and uninterrupted collaboration focused national organisations, which have also been instrumental in signposting/recruiting, enrolling and accompanying various students. In turn, the dynamisation of training sessions for teachers and interested parties was publicised by Metropolitana and by associations of music education teachers, special education teachers and educational establishments throughout the country.

Metropolitana committed itself to creating inclusive dissemination networks, having created a specific page on its website for consulting information about the project’s sessions, easily accessible to blind and deaf communities. In this sense, it has taken an exclusive design that allows the various steps of the project over ten months to be clearly identified and recognised by the participating communities and the general public. News and teasers about the MUSICAR project were also published regularly on Metropolitana’s social networks.

All the actions were also publicised on general press channels and on radio and television programmes: two reports on TSF Radio (29/06/2023 & 28/11/2023), one news item in Jornal Expresso (28/11/2023), interviews for Antena 1 Radio (15/06/2023) and Antena 2 Radio (29/11/2023), participation in Antena 1 “A Ponte” programme (13/08/2023) and a report on Rádio Televisão Portuguesa‘s children information programme RADAR XS (15/11/2023).

The communication supports for all the activities, produced by Metropolitana, with the project’s own exclusive design, including the concert brochure, are available at: https://www.metropolitana.pt/musicar/materiais-de-divulgacao-musicar/ .

The initiative was also presented and discussed in academic research forums, in particular at the XVII Encontro Nacional da Associação Portuguesa de Educação Musical 2023 | Música na Educação: Inclusão na pluralidade.

The recordings made since the beginning of the project and at the Final Concert enable to create seven teasers, which can be consulted at the following address: https://www.metropolitana.pt/en/musicar/musicar-gallery/.

The bank of audios and videos collected over the course of the project is currently being edited and assembled for publication as a video documentary. The audio recording of the concert, made by Antena 2, the national classical music radio station, will also be broadcast to the general public. A photographic record of the sessions was kept for documentary purposes, which can also be used for future publicity – on days such as World Day of People with Disabilities, Braille Day, etc. – partially available at the same address as above. A specific documentary bank was created with all the publicity materials (posters, online news) as well as all Metropolitana concert brochures printed in Braille.
