Metropolitana’s Professional School (EPM) is the first music school in the Lisbon region to achieve the Seal of Conformity of EQAVET, the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education, established by the Recommendation of the European Parliament and the European Council.
What is EQAVET?
EQAVET (acronym for European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training) is the reference instrument for promoting and monitoring the improvement of European vocational education and training systems.
Member states are invited to develop and use this tool, on a voluntary basis, and its main users are national and regional authorities, as well as public and private bodies responsible for quality assurance and improvement in vocational education and training.
EQAVET emphasizes the role of a culture of quality improvement and accountability at the system and VET operator level.
It assigns an important role to systematic self-evaluation and comprises internal and external evaluation mechanisms that must be defined by the member states.
EQAVET Methodology
EQAVET proposes a methodology based on:
> In a cycle composed of four phases
(planning, execution, evaluation and revision).
> In quality criteria and indicative descriptors for each phase of the cycle.
> In common indicators, of both a qualitative and quantitative nature, that allow for the assessment of training objectives, methods, processes and results.
In Portugal, Decree-Law No. 92/2014, of June 20, which establishes the legal regime for professional schools, established that they must implement quality assurance systems aligned with EQAVET, assigning ANQEP, IP the competence to promote, monitor and support this implementation.
