Learning outcomes

Reinforce the objectives of the previous semesters.
Acquire technical skills in the direction of bar 1.
Acquire technical skills in the direction of bars such as 6/8, 9/8 and 12/8.
Overcome technical difficulties related to the tempo and bars changes.
Develop the notion of melodic guide, refined with sense of phrasing, rhythmic precision and timbre definition.
Approach the problematics of the rehearsal.
Assure the effective, constructive and mobilizing oral and gestural communication.
To be able to apply an efficient methodology of the rehearsal in the process of detecting, analyzing and solving problems.
Develop capacity for planning and managing rehearsal time.
Acquire levels of self-confidence that support safe conducting on the stage.


The syllabus consists of the study of the orchestra repertoire with predominance in the composers of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

Teaching methodologies


The teaching methodology of the course is structured by monthly cycles.
The first three weeks are dedicated to the individual preparation of the repertoire and have academic follow-up within the framework of the curricular unit Technique course, Theory of Orchestra Conducting.
Classes of the curricular unit Orchestra Conducting take place in the third and fourth week of each cycle in the form of an internship of five orchestral rehearsals.
The fourth week concludes with the public presentations.
The training instrument of the course is the Metropolitan Academic Orchestra (OAM).
Students occasionally conduct OAM at concerts according to their learning objectives.
