Learning outcomes
The goal of this course unit is to foster interest in accompanying and promoting the performing skills of the student in collaboration with various musicians.
It should build a basis of the vocal repertoire and of various instruments (strings and woodwinds) as well as the accompanist’s listening development and his/her adaptation to the specific soloist.
Syllabus
Instrumental component – Sonatas or works of similar form (examples: Italian Suite by Stravinsky, Duo Concertante by Weber, etc.) and pieces of free choice.
Vocal component – Opera arias or oratorio and romantic lider (example: Zerlina´s aria “Batti, Batti, O Bel Masetto”, ópera Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion” from “Messiah” by G. F. Handel, “Im wunderschönen Monat Mai”; “Aus meinen Tränen sprießen” from vocal cycle “Dichterliebe” by R. Schumann or others of similar difficulty).
Teaching methodologies
Classes are organized in pairs of students, an instrumentalist or singer and a pianist, thus enabling the accompaniment skills. It is basically intended for the students to develop two types of work:
1- Work with prior individual preparation in the case of more complex sonatas, concerti or other type of works;
2- Development of sight-reading skills in classes with musicians in the case of easier works.
The final evaluation in all semesters will be the average of the exam result and continuous assessment.
