This performance is built from real letters and testimonies written during the Second World War by children, soldiers, survivors, and civilians. These are words born in extreme circumstances—letters sent from the front lines, accounts written while fleeing, memories recorded during or after the conflict—that give voice to the human experience of war from those who lived it. Träumerei is the word chosen to express this musical journey, enveloped in nostalgic feelings.
More than historical events, these letters reveal the profound psychological impact of war: the loss of childhood, constant fear, forced transformation, waiting, violence, return, and the difficulty of finding peace again. Each testimony brings a distinct experience—different types of trauma, different forms of survival—but all share the same urgency to be heard.
The voice-over text, composed from these testimonies, is interwoven with music performed by a percussion duo, creating a dialogue between words and sound. The programme includes works by Iannis Xenakis, Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner, Tak-Cheung Hui, and Fredrik Andersson.
This concert aims not only to recall the war but to bring the audience closer to the psychological experiences of those who lived through it, offering space for memory, listening, and reflection.
