The mythological figure of Chimera, imaginatively described as having the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a serpent, is the perfect metaphor for a hybrid concert in which apparently irreconcilable musical genres are mixed, but which merge here to create an amazing listening experience. Like a monster that defies our comprehension, it combines the music of Arvo Pärt with that of two of the greatest composers of the Baroque period: Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. The minimalist spirituality of Fratres and Summa (two works dating from 1977) dialogues with soundscapes from the four seasons and one of the most beautiful melodies ever, the Aria from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3. All this with unusual arrangements by Alexêi Tolpygo for electric violin, recorded support and string quartet.
