Bilhetes à vendaSince its premiere, Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Orchestra has always divided opinions. For some it is a Concerto “against” the Violin, for others a Violin Concerto “against” the Orchestra. All regret, however, that Brahms did not compose more works in this format. This is the dilemma that the violinist Alina Pogostkina and maestro Pedro Neves will face at the beginning of another season. They also anticipate the dialogue between Beethoven and Brahms that marks the first months of the OML programming. So, it all begins with Beethoven’s first and last incursions into the universe of symphonies. The first one does not yet have a romantic character but it is still surprising. The last one is presented here through a speculative exercise based on sketches of a supposed Symphony No. 10.
