A Orquestrea Clássica Metropolitana, made up of young musicians attending the Metropolitan Professional School, brings together three great classics from the history of music to mark the fifth centenary of the death of Queen Leonor. Appropriately, the second movement of Beethoven’s Heroic Symphony inspires cinematic plots steeped in the commotion of death. It translates into a tragic atmosphere in tribute to someone who has passed away, to their glory. It is a slow, deeply felt procession. Before that, we hear the majestic overture to Don Giovanni, a synthesis of the essential dramatic elements of Mozart’s famous opera. The program ends with the first movement of Schubert’s most popular symphony, even though the composer himself never completed it, let alone heard it performed.
