The Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa closes the 2nd edition of the series of concerts Music and the World – Atlantic Sound Encounters with the premiere of the work which won the 1st edition of the Francisco de Lacerda Composition Prize. It will also be an opportunity to revisit two works by the Azorean composer: Berceuse, a simple lullaby intoned by the orchestra’s strings, and the eight trovatas, orchestrated and premiered in 1929 by soprano Marina Dewander Gabriel and conductor Pedro de Freitas Branco.
On this occasion we count on the voice of Eduarda Melo and Pedro Neves. The program is completed with Ma Mère l’Oye, Maurice Ravel’s musical recreation of some of Charles Perrault’s most famous tales, such as Sleeping Beauty and The Little Thumb.
