The city of Setúbal and the Metropolitan Council are marking World Music Day with a concert that has become a tradition. On this first day of October, all genres of music are in the spotlight: rock, fado, bossa nova, jazz, trance… and classical music too. It is a good opportunity to remember the importance music has in our lives and to reflect a little on the resources and circumstances that make it possible. Recorded music is so ubiquitous in our lives that we forget where it comes from, who makes it and how it is made. Despite the challenges and difficulties inherent in a rapidly changing world, it is worth remembering that we have never had so many and such talented musicians as we do today, and that we have never had such a large and enthusiastic audience as we do today. We know that not everything is perfect yet, but there are many reasons to celebrate.
