Beyond religious beliefs, the Christmas spirit always embraces our lives at this time of year. There may not even be consensus about the values and feelings that encourage the practice of goodness, generosity, and solidarity towards others. But there is a unique symbolism that awakens memories and affection. It is part of our culture. Families get together. We eat together. We give gifts. Houses and streets are lit up. There are smiles, sometimes a little sadness… and music, lots of music, as an essential soundtrack to the festive atmosphere. These are universal songs of celebration. Melodies whose names we don’t even remember. Joy to the World? Silent Night? Let’s put aside the angelic voices and the guizeiras… let’s imagine a violin and a double bass… let’s take a deep breath… and the magic happens!
