Born in 1962 in Moscow, Vladimir Kouznetsov began his studies in 1969 at the Stasov School of Music in the same city. He later joined the Central School of Music of the Soviet Union in Moscow.
He obtained his degree in 1985, after having attended the Tchaykovsky Higher Conservatory in Moscow in the class of professor Leopold Andreev. In 2004 he completed his master’s degree at the Musorgsky Higher Conservatory of the Urals in Ekaterinburg in the class of professor O. Rudin. He has been a member of several orchestras and chamber music ensembles, including the Philharmonic Orchestra of the 21st Century and a chamber ensemble conducted by Sviatoslav Teofilovich Richter. He has toured in numerous countries, performing with various orchestras and chamber music groups.
In 1996 he moved to Portugal and joined the Orquestra do Norte. He also played with the Orquestra Gulbenkian. In 1998 he joined the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and is currently head of the double bass section. He is also a double bass teacher at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.
