Born in 1983, Nuno Abreu began his musical studies at the Fundação Musical dos Amigos das Crianças (Lisbon) where he studied with Maria José Falcão. In 2005 he finished his degree in Cello of the Orchestra Instrumentalist course at the National Superior Academy of Orchestra, in the class of professor Paulo Gaio Lima, with the highest grades.
He has given several recitals in Portugal and abroad, having premiered various contemporary pieces by Portuguese and foreign composers. In the United States of America, he won the Northshore Competition Prize (2007). In Portugal, she won the Young Musicians Prize in Chamber Music / Superior Level (2004), the Caldas da Rainha Interpretation Competition (2007) and the 2nd Prize and the Audience Award in the Estoril Interpretation Competition (2007).
In 2007 he completed his Masters in Performance at Northwestern University School of Music (Chicago), with Hans Jensen, with the highest classification. He teaches at the Escola Profissional da Metropolitana and holds the position of First Cello in the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.
