Was born in Lund, Sweden, and started playing the cello at the age of nine at the Municipal Music School in the same city. She continued her musical studies with Niels Ullner, principal cello in the Malmoe Symphony Orchestra. Later, she entered the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Denmark; that same year, she won 1st prize at the Berlingske Tidendes Klassiske Musikkonkurrence, Denmark’s largest competition for young musicians. She was also honoured with a scholarship from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
After completing her degree, she continued her studies with Hannu Kiiski at the Sibelius Academy in Finland. In 2011, she completed her master’s degree at the Malmoe Academy of Music with Professor Mats Rondin.
She took part in the International Summer Academy – Mozarteum (Austria), the Nice Music Festival (France), the Aurora Chamber Music Festival (Sweden) and masterclasses with Ralph Kirshbaum, Natalie Clein, Julius Berger, Xavier Gagnepain and Paulo Gaio Lima, among others.
In 2012, Mariana was a member of the Fundação Orquestra Estúdio in Guimarães – European Capital of Culture. She currently collaborates with various national orchestras and ensembles
