Irma Skenderi was born in Tirana (Albania). He began his musical education at the age of six, graduating in Viola at the Jordan Misja Conservatory in 1992. He finished the Viola Course with the highest grade at the Academia Delle Belle Arti (Tirana) with Professor Arben Llozi. In 1994, he continued his studies at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, with professors Piero Farulli and Amadeo Baldovino, and at the Accademia Chigiana, with professor Ricardo Brengola, where he obtained two «Diplomi di Merit» with the Trio di Tirana ( 1995-96) and a “Diploma of Honor” (1997). In 1996, with the same training, he won the Special Jury Prize at the Caltanisetta Chamber International Music Competition. He has worked with prestigious masters in the field of Chamber Music, such as members of the Alban Berg Quartet and the Prague Quartet. He has performed concerts, both as Chamber Music and as a soloist, in Albania, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France, Austria and Malta. He has lived in Portugal since 1998. He worked as soloist B at the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras until 2004. He collaborated with several other orchestras, such as the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, the Orchestra del Maggio Fiorentino , the Remix Orchestra and Gulbenkian Orchestra.
He has been Soloist B of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa since September 2005. In the same orchestra, he served as Chief of the Viola Suit between 2011 and 2017. In July 2014, he participated in the public auditions of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, in Florence (Italy), since then being regularly invited as Soloist A and Prima Viola, performing, among others, with conductors Fabio Luisi, Daniel Cohen, Carlo Rizzi and Daniele Gatti, among others, and with soloists Maurizio Baglini and Aldo Ciccolini. He has taught at the Viseu Regional Conservatory, at the Loures Arts Conservatory and at the Geração Orchestra Project. He currently teaches at the Nossa Senhora de Cabo Music School (Linda Velha).
