Piano Accompaniment

Holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies and Management from ISCTE and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), where he studied under Jorge Moyano. He graduated from Conservatório Nacional with the highest marks, having studied there with Hélder Entrudo and Carla Seixas. Prizewinner from the outset of his musical career in several piano competitions, he performs regularly throughout Portugal in a variety of ensembles, with a particular focus on promoting Portuguese musical heritage. He places special importance on the works of contemporary composers, having premiered music by Andreia Pinto Correia, João Pedro Oliveira, Sérgio Azevedo, among others.

He maintains a regular duo partnership with cellist Nuno Cardoso, with whom he has taken part on four occasions in the Historical Instruments Series at the Museum of Music. He also performs frequently abroad, notably in concerts given in Paris and during a 2014 tour of Brazil, both as a soloist and alongside pianist Philippe Marques. Their ongoing collaboration continues in the project Bailados Portugueses, which has so far resulted in two CD releases: La Fièvre du Temps (2020) and A Menina Dança? (2023), as well as the album Melodias Rústicas Portuguesas, featuring music by Fernando Lopes-Graça. He also forms Duo Interdito with Sofia Marafona, with whom he regularly performs in Portugal and abroad, presenting programmes of Portuguese, French, German, and English song from the mid-19th century to the present day.

He is the founder of MPMP, for which he has overseen numerous concerts and premiere recordings—including the complete recording of João Domingos Bomtempo’s piano sonatas (by Philippe Marques) and the complete keyboard works of Carlos Seixas (by José Carlos Araújo). He was Executive Director of Glosas from 2017 to 2020 and is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Évora.
