Orchestra Conducting

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF
ADVANCED ORCHESTRAL STUDIES

OPTION
ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING

The Orchestra Conducting option in Bachelor Music Degree lasts for three years and guarantees its graduates a solid theoretical and practical training. In addition to the deep knowledge of the orchestral repertoire and an education with a level of excellence, the development of the technical and social skills inherent to the conductor function are exercised through the regular presentation in front of the Metropolitan Academic Orchestra, an orchestra of classical dimension consisting of young instrumentalists of advanced level who attend the Option of Orchestral Instrumentalist of the same Degree.

The experience accumulated in public concerts, carefully integrated in the artistic program of AMEC-Metropolitana, ensures an advantageous preparation for the presentation in Orchestral Conducting contests and to take the first steps in the professional career. Since it began teaching this specialty, the National Academy of Advanced Orchestral Studies (ANSO) has trained two dozen conductors, including Joana Carneiro, the Principal Conductor of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, and Pedro Neves, the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon.
