Metropolitana brings music to the IEFP Training Services

IEFP and Metropolitana are teaming up to give trainees in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley contact with musical expression in its various forms.

As part of the agreement signed between the founders of Metropolitana – Associação Música, Educação e Cultura – O Sentido dos Sons (AMEC), a series of activities will be organised for trainees from the Vocational Training Services of the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Delegation.

This initiative aims to get trainees to reflect on and work on relevant themes associated with some of the UN’s International Days and, at the same time, to promote contact with musical expression in its various forms.

Starting on 19 October 2023 at the Lisbon Vocational Training Service, the cycle will end in May 2024 at the Setúbal Training Service.

Metropolitana is a cultural and educational non-profit organisation of public utility, which manages an orchestra, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, and three music schools – the National Academy of Advanced Orchestral Studies (ANSO), the Conservatório de Música da Metropolitana and the Escola Profissional da Metropolitana.

In 2015, Lisbon City Council, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, represented by the Secretary of State for Culture and the Secretary of State for Sport and Youth, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Solidarity, Employment and Social Security and the Portuguese Tourism Institute, representing the Secretary of State for Tourism, signed the “AMEC Founders’ Agreement”, for the development of activities within its scope and aimed at young people.
