Born in Lisbon, he began his musical studies with his father. He studied with José Pereira at the Conservatório Regional de Portalegre, at the Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior with Fernando Jorge Ribeiro and at the Conservatório Hector Berlioz, in Paris, with Bruno Nouvion.
He taught at the Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior, at the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho and has directed several trumpet masterclasses in Portugal.
He was a laureate of the Young Musicians Prize competition in the Chamber Music category with the brass quintet Harmon Brass. He is a founding member of the Almost6 trumpet quintet, with which he edited the CD Sopros em Laboratório and organizes the Almost6 International Trumpet Festival.
He plays as 1st Trumpet in the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa since January 2003 and is a teacher in the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.
