He was born in Russia, near Moscow, and started his violin studies at the age of seven. In 1987 he obtained his doctorate as a violist at the Russian Higher Academy of Music. In 1984, he was part of the Virtuosi Orchestra of Moscow.
Between 1985 and 1989, he was head of the viola ensemble of the New Russian State Symphony Orchestra. From 1989 to 1991, he was soloist A of the viola ensemble of the Russian State Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra.
Between 1991 and 2004, he was part of the Moscow Piano Quartet. In 1993 he settled in Portugal with this Quartet, as resident Quartet in Cascais
He has been honoured once with medals of merit in Russia and twice in Portugal for his work in the area of musical culture.
He has been a member of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa since 1998.
