Tatiana Leonor

Cello

Tatiana Leonor (Covilhã, 1987) began her musical studies at EPABI, where she studied with Miguel Matias and Filipe Quaresma. She completed her Licenciatura at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in the class of Professor Jed Barahal, and her Master’s degree in Music Teaching at the Universidade de Aveiro. Throughout her academic training, she attended masterclasses with several professors, including Paulo Gaio Lima, Jian Wang, and Gagnepain.

In the orchestral field, highlights include her participation in the APROARTE internship under the direction of Ernest Schell (Tutti and Section Leader), in the Young Franco-German Philharmonics in Bayreuth (Section Leader), and in the International Orkest Historische Muziek at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken. She was awarded the 1st Prize in Chamber Music at the Prémio Jovens Músicos (2005).

She was a member of the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho. She collaborates with cello chamber music groups and various national orchestras as a guest musician. In the field of cello teaching, her main interests lie in string ensemble classes and chamber music. She constantly seeks to update her knowledge in these areas by attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences in Portugal and abroad. She has given masterclasses and workshops in several Portuguese music schools, and many of her students have won prizes in national cello competitions.

She currently teaches at the Escola Profissional Metropolitana, the Conservatório de Música da Metropolitana, and the Academia de Música de Lisboa.
