Musical Training

Gustavo Lopes completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Choral Conducting and Music Education at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in 2013, where he studied with Cristina Brito da Cruz, Clara Coelho, Paulo Lourenço, Carlos Garcia, Francisco Cardoso, and Vasco Azevedo, among others. That same year, he enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Music Teaching, which he completed in 2015 at the same institution, under the guidance of Francisco Cardoso. He studied Music Pedagogy in Hungary on an Erasmus exchange programme, where he worked on Music Education, Choral Conducting, Piano, Education Pedagogy, Methodology and Children’s Music Pedagogy, among other subjects. He also participated as a guest speaker at the ‘X National Meeting of APEM’ in 2016.

He is a founding member of the Ensemble Vocal Desafinados. In 2015, he participated as a soloist in the opera Banksters, by Nuno Côrte-Real, performed at the Centro Cultural de Belém. He frequently works with the Officium Ensemble and the Coro Ricercare, both under the direction of conductor Pedro Teixeira.

Since 2013, he has been a teacher of Music Training and Choir at the Conservatório de Música da Metropolitana (CMM), the Escola Profissional Metropolitana (EPM) and the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra (ANSO), and teaches Music Training and Piano at the Academia de Música do Monte Abrãao.
