Frederico Ribeiro began his musical studies in 2003, at the age of five, at the Escola de Música da Parede. At ten, he entered the Conservatório de Música de Cascais, where he studied until the 5th grade and won the “Jovens Talentos” Competition (1st prize, ex aequo).
At fifteen, he continued his studies with Professor João Lucena e Vale at the Conservatório Nacional, completing the course with a grade of 19 (out of 20). During this period, he participated in the VII Concurso Czerny at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, where he won both the 1st prize in Level V and the overall 1st prize (ex aequo). He also took part in the II Concurso Nacional de Música de Câmara de Vila Verde, winning 2nd prize. In addition to competitions, he attended numerous masterclasses, both as a soloist and in chamber music, with professors such as Paulo Gaio Lima, Paul Wakabayashi, and Paulo Oliveira.
In 2016, as part of the “Dias da Música” festival at the Centro Cultural de Belém, he premiered, together with his trio 3’98, in the Sala Amália Rodrigues, the work O Dia Seguinte by Anne Victorino d’Almeida. That same year, he was awarded a scholarship from the “Palco de Talentos” program, created by Banco Santander Totta in partnership with Rock in Rio Lisboa.
In 2016, he entered the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE) in the class of Professor Constantin Sandu, graduating with a final grade of 18. In 2017, he took part in the 13.º Concurso Internacional de Piano do Alto Minho, winning 2nd prize (ex aequo), and in the XII Fórum Internacional de Música de Orihuela, where he studied with pianists such as Fernando Puchol, Jesús Mª Gómez, Xavier Torres, Jean François Antonioli, and Balázs Fulei. At this forum, he also participated in the III Concurso de Piano, where he won 2nd prize. He has also worked as a soloist with pianists Ivo Kahanek, Alessandro Cervino, Bin Wang, and Vlad Dimulescu, in lied with Kelvin Grout, and in chamber music with violist Jon Thorne.
He has performed as pianist in the collective creation A Audição, directed by António Durães and Cláudia Marisa, staged at Café-Concerto Francisco Beja. He has appeared in various concert halls, including the Sala Amália Rodrigues at CCB, the Ateneu Comercial do Porto, the Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, Teatro Helena Sá e Costa, the Salão Nobre of the Conservatório Nacional, and the Auditório Vianna da Motta.
As an accompanist, he has taken part in the II Festival de Canto Lírico de Guimarães, the Concurso Internacional de Instrumentos de Sopro de Oliveira de Azeméis, the Prémio Paulo Gaio Lima, the Concurso Vecchi Costa, and the Festival APTE. He has also worked as accompanist at the Escola de Música de Perosinho, the Conservatório de Vila Nova de Gaia, and the Conservatório Superior de Vila Nova de Gaia.
In 2022, he completed his Master’s degree in Music – Artistic Performance at ESMAE, in the class of Professor Miguel Borges Coelho, with the project Alkan, um vanguardista esquecido (“Alkan, a Forgotten Vanguardist”), obtaining a grade of 17. During this period, he also studied chamber music with Professor Pedro Burmester.
He is currently a piano teacher at the Conservatório de Música de Cascais and a staff accompanist at the Escola Profissional Metropolitana. As an accompanist, he regularly collaborates with the Academia de Música de Lisboa, the Academia Musical dos Amigos das Crianças, and the Vox Laci choirs. As an event pianist, he frequently performs at the Hotel Grande Real Villa Itália.
