Daniela Radu

Repertoire and Orchestral Excerpts

Daniela Radu began her studies in Violin at the Lyceum of Music in her hometown (Timisoara / Romania) at the age of seven, completing in 1984 a university degree at the George Enescu Music Academy, in Iasi. During 1979 and 1980, Daniela perfected her training with Igor Bezrodny, at the Weimar Academy of Music (Germany). In 1984, she was awarded the Special Prize at the George Enescu Music Festival in Bucharest (Romania).

Her qualifications were recognized by the University of Aveiro, where she also completed a Masters in Music – Performance, presenting the innovative project entitled «Maria de Lourdes Martins – The analysis and interpretation of works composed for violin and piano», under the guidance of the professor David Lloyd. In 1999, she was a visiting professor at the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho.

Currently, Daniela Radu teaches at the  National Academy of Advanced Orchestral Studies, in Lisbon, and integrates the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa as a violinist.

As an instrumentalist, she performed solo in Bonn (1977), Belgrade (1978) and Weimar (1980), as well as, since 1993, in numerous concerts held in Portugal. Within the scope of Chamber Music, she joined several formations that performed both in Romania and in Portugal, among which the Quarteto Orfeu (1995) stands out.

Daniela has performed in concerts in France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Austria, Hungary, Thailand and Japan, having integrated several orchestras, such as the National Academic Orchestra of Romania, the Transylvania Symphony Orchestra, the Timisoara Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra do Norte – of which she was concertmaster from 1992 to 1998 – and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.
