Ana Pereira


Born in Lanhelas (1985), he began his musical studies in his native band, joining the Professional Music School of Viana do Castelo at the age of twelve, in the Violin Class of Professor José Manuel Fernandéz Rosado. Here he finished the basic course with the highest rating. She started at this stage of learning to be distinguished in competitions: in the Young Musicians Award 2002 she won the 3rd Prize for Violin (Average Level) and the 3rd Prize for Chamber Music (Average Level). She participated in the 1st Tomás Borba Violin Competition, being awarded the 2nd prize. Selected for the Superior National Academy of Orchestra, she began studying with Professor Aníbal Lima, graduating with the highest grade in 2007. Before, in 2005, she won 2nd Prize in the Young Musicians Competition (Higher Level) and , a year later, the 1st Prize in the same competition. In 2007 he won the Chamber Music modality (Higher Level), as the 1st violin of the Artzen Quartet, a group of which he is a founding member. More recently, she was the winner of the International Young Violinists Award 2011 A Herança de Paganini.

Throughout his training, he did masterclasses with prestigious violinists, namely Serguei Arantounian, Anotoli Swarzburg, Evelio Teles, Zofia Kuberska-Wóyciska, Gerardo Ribeiro, Eugene Gratovich, Irina Tseitlin, Michael Tseitlin Carmelo de los Santos, Günter Seifert, and Igory Oistr between others. Her interpretive qualities led her to be concertmaster for the Symphonic Orchestra of the Professional Music School of Viana do Castelo, the Metropolitan Academic Orchestra, the Lisbon Symphony Orchestra and the Portuguese Opera Orchestra. She was also elected as concertmaster for the APROARTE 2002 National Youth Orchestra and for the II Stage of the Metropolitan Academic Symphonic Orchestra.

He played in several orchestras: Sinfonieta do Porto, Sinfonieta de Lisboa, APROARTE, Symphonic Orchestra of the Professional Music School of Viana do Castelo, Metropolitan Academic Orchestra, Portuguese Opera Orchestra, OrchestrUtopica, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Remix Essemble and Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon.

He has performed as a soloist with Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Orquestra Sinfonieta de Lisboa, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and Joensuun Kaupunginorkesteri (Finland), in Portugal and abroad.

He regularly performs as concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfonieta de Lisboa and is a founding member of the string camerata Alma Mater.

Since June 2015, he has occupied the place of Concertino of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, a formation he has been part of since 2008 (and in which he held the position of assistant concertmaster for about 7 years). He has been part of the teaching staff of Escolas da Metropolitana since 2009.
