ESCOLA PROFISSIONAL DA METROPOLITANA
INTEGRATED MUSIC EDUCATION – SUPPORTED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
The Escola Profissional da Metropolitana (EPM) was established in the 2008/2009 school year with courses for String and Keyboard Instrumentalists and for Wind and Percussion Instrumentalists, both equivalent to the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of secondary education. After fifteen years of activity, it is already possible to say that it has been a successful venture.
The virtues of integrated music education are well known, where general education subjects blend with specialized learning; in this case, individual instrument lessons and the practice of chamber music and orchestra.
Work-based training, fostered by the highly stimulating environment that characterizes the Metropolitana universe, under the motto One Orchestra, Three Schools, results in an integrated teaching model capable of shaping young citizens and musicians ready to start a professional career as instrumentalists and continue their higher education studies.
Alongside their Chamber Music work, EPM students are part of the Orquestra Clássica Metropolitana and the Orquestra de Sopros da Metropolitana, being challenged throughout each academic year with a season marked by a diversity of activities and repertoires – Ensaio Geral Season 2024/2025.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Completion of 9th Grade
The admission tests consist of:
a) Music Theory Test
b) Instrument Performance Test, to be performed before a jury
c) Interview, conducted by the Instrument Performance Test jury
