We regret to inform you that, due to the illness of one of the musicians, the Vivaldi & Piazzolla – Eight Seasons concert will be postponed until March 2026. We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you on the new date.

The string trio is an ensemble that makes life difficult for composers and performers. It does not allow for great dynamic variations or very marked expressive contrasts, also due to the similarity in timbre of the instruments that compose it: the violin, viola, and cello. It therefore requires meticulously calculated conciseness in writing, capable of drawing in the score the gestures necessary to awaken the listener’s imagination, which is only within the reach of the great masters of this art. In this concert, the Solistas da Metropolitana propose to embrace the challenge by performing early works by two musicians who went on to become references in the history of music. They begin with the pages of an unfinished trio by Franz Schubert, dated 1816, when he was 19 years old. These pages were conceived for a familiar and relaxed atmosphere, albeit with refinements of harmonic daring and, above all, the exquisite balance between the three voices, which was unexpected at the time. They then go back two decades to bring to life a true monument of the repertoire for this instrumental combination. Highly sophisticated, despite the trivial appearance of a serenade, the String Trio Op. 3 is an attempt by the young 24-year-old Beethoven to find his own voice and distinguish himself from the more classical trends that still dominated Viennese tastes in the 1790s. In the six movements as a whole, the watchword is variety.
