Did you know that although Maurice Ravel played the piano beautifully, his favorite instrument was the orchestra? That’s why he became a conductor and composer. He soon became famous for being able to create magical and surprising sounds through a careful combination of instruments. He liked to experiment and discover different ways of illustrating moods and states of mind through music, using the instruments as if they were characters. In this concert we will be able to listen to each of the five pieces from the My Mother Goose suite and pay attention to the details that allow the orchestra to illustrate enchanting stories such as Sleeping Beauty and The Little Thumb.
