The Almost6 project was launched in 2007 with the formation of a trumpet and percussion quintet. The festival of the same name was held for the first time in 2012, on a biennial basis, with the aim of contributing to the training and development of trumpet students at Portuguese music schools and fostering exchange experiences with leading international trumpeters. For this seventh edition of the festival, the guest artist is Jeroen Berwaerts, an award-winning Belgian trumpeter whose career is characterised by a combination of technical virtuosity and stylistic diversity, enabling him to embrace a repertoire ranging from Baroque to jazz. In addition to his performing career, he teaches at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media and is Professor in Residence at the Royal Academy of Music (London).
