This Holy Week, the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra is performing a work evocative of the drama of Christ’s death. Loaded with symbolism, it is a narrative that, beyond the religious ceremonial, helps us to better understand the culture and mentality of the West. Composed in 1787, Joseph Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ expresses extreme emotions, extreme emotions that force us to question our way of being in the world and in life. Alternately, various fanfares sounded throughout the space, played by the trumpets of the Almost6 project.
