Season 2024/2025
Metropolitana, founded in 1992, has developed a project that is unique in Portugal and very rare on the international scene. Its value is based on transversal performance, combining specialized teaching with the practice of music.
An orchestra (OML) and three schools (Conservatory of Music, Professional School and National Superior Academy of Orchestra) make up this musical project of choice, which has formed hundreds of professional musicians.
Metropolitana’s daily life is characterized by the coexistence of different generations in the same building (its headquarters, housed in the former Standard Eléctrica building in Lisbon), with the energy inherent in the intense musical sharing between students, teachers, professional musicians and administrative staff.
In order for this project to consolidate and grow, the activity they all carry out is not enough. The music we make is aimed at the public. Without them, our mission would be incomplete; with them, we can do even more.
