Musicar: 1st phase of the project successfully completed

Between 3 March and 12 May, 10 training sessions were presented at Metropolitana’s headquarters, with the central aim of contributing to full access to the arts for people with blindness or low vision and Deaf people, by promoting the teaching of music theory and ensemble music practice in these communities.

These weekly sessions totalled around 130 enrolments and were aimed at teachers from Metropolitana’s three schools, students from the National Superior Academy of Orchestra and guest assistants.

The second phase of the project will take place in June, with four workshops aimed at deaf students (17 and 24 June) and blind or low-vision students (17 June and 1 July) aged over 6.

The “Come MUSIC with Us” workshops will serve as an introduction to the classes that will take place (always on Saturdays) between mid-September and 29 November, the date of the final MUSICAR Concert to be held at the São Luiz Theatre, in which EVERYONE will be able to take part.

With free enrolment, they will take place at the Metropolitana headquarters and offer a first approach to musical training. First, some musical instruments will be presented by Metropolitana teachers, always accompanied by professionals with experience in teaching music to these communities. Then we’ll make music together.

We would like to remind you that the MUSICAR project is a Metropolitana initiative with the support of MusicAIRE, an action co-funded by the European Union to support the music industry, and also has Bengala Mágica, Mãos que Cantam and Teatro São Luiz as its main partners.

Without fear, come and make MUSIC with us!
