Janete Santos

Janete Santos

Born in Porto, Janete started her musical studies in her family environment, continuing them in the Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva and later in the Conservatório de Música do Porto, where she finished the complementary course with the maximum classification in the flute class of professor Luís Meireles.

Later on, Janete entered the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, where she finished her degree, having studied with professors Tristan Hayoz, Sandra Pina and Anabela Malarranha, in the flute discipline, and with maestro Jean-Marc Burfin, integrated in the Orquestra Académica Metropolitana. She has participated in masterclasses with the most prestigious flutists, such as Vicenz Pratz, Magdalena Martinez, Patrick Gallois, Herbert Weissberg and Rien de Reed, among others.

She has won several prizes, including the Young Musicians Prize, in the Flute and Chamber Music category, the Portuguese Musical Youth Prize, the Musical Forum Prize and the Estoril Interpretation Competition. He has integrated several youth orchestras, such as the Orquestra Portuguesa da Juventude, the Orquestra das Escolas Particulares, the Orquestra de Sopros dos Templários and the Orquestra Internacional de Jovens Europeus.

He has performed as a soloist with the Orquestra Académica Metropolitana and the Orquestra Clássica do Porto. He gives recitals frequently, with various chamber formations, interpreting repertoires of various styles, from baroque to contemporary music.

He is currently soloist B in the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and also teaches in the Metropolitana Music Conservatory and in the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.
