Concertino

Born in Lanhelas (1985), she started her musical studies in the band of her hometown, joining the Violin Class of the professor José Manuel Fernandéz Rosado at the age of twelve at the Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo.

Here she finished the basic course with the maximum classification. In the Young Musicians Prize 2002 she was awarded the 3rd Prize in Violin (Medium Level) and the 3rd Prize in Chamber Music (Medium Level). She participated in the 1st Tomás Borba Violin Competition, being awarded the 2nd prize. Selected for the National Superior Academy of Orchestra, she started studying with the teacher Aníbal Lima, graduating with the maximum classification in 2007. Before, in 2005, she obtained the 2nd Prize in the Young Musicians Competition (Superior Level) and, one year later, the 1st Prize in the same competition. In 2007 she won the modality of Chamber Music (Superior Level), as 1st violin of the Artzen Quartet, group of which she is a founding member. More recently, she was the winner of the International Young Violinists Prize 2011 The Inheritance of Paganini.

Throughout her training, she has taken masterclasses with prestigious violinists, namely Serguei Arantounian, Anotoli Swarzburg, Evélio Teles, Zófia Kuberska-Wóyciska, Gerardo Ribeiro, Eugene Gratovich, Irina Tseitlin, Michael Tseitlin Carmelo de los Santos, Günter Seifert, Igor Oistrach and Evegeny Bushkov, among others. Her interpretative qualities led her to be concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfónica da Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa and Orquestra de Ópera Portuguesa. She was also elected as concertmistress for the National Youth Orchestra APROARTE 2002 and for the II Estágio da Orquestra Sinfónica Académica Metropolitana.

She has played in several orchestras: Sinfonietta do Porto, Sinfonietta de Lisboa, APROARTE, Orquestra Sinfónica da Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Orquestra de Ópera Portuguesa, OrchestrUtopica, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Remix Ensemble and Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.

She has performed as a soloist with Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and Joensuun Kaupunginorkesteri (Finland), in Portugal and abroad.

Ana performs regularly as concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa and is a founding member of the Alma Mater string camerata.

Since June 2015, she has held the position of Concertino of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, a formation she has been part of since 2008 (and in which she held the position of concertino-adjunct for around 7 years).

She has been a member of the teaching staff of the Metropolitan Schools since 2009.
