For over three decades, the duality of rationality and passion served as his leitmotif in professional involvement in the artistic, cultural, and pedagogical sectors. He grew up as a musician and studied at the Conservatório Regional de Setúbal. He has interests in both music and management. Driven by a childhood dream of joining a symphony orchestra, he discarded the rationality of his management degree at ISCTE (1993) to pursue his passion at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra (ANSO), where he graduated as an orchestral instrumentalist with a specialization in trumpet (1999).

As a freelancer, he worked regularly with the Orquestra Gulbenkian, the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa before becoming a permanent member of the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras in 1998 and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa from 1999 to 2016.

Throughout these years, his interest and curiosity regarding the formal, practical, and technical aspects of cultural and artistic organization management led him to pursue advanced specialization in Cultural Management. He returned to ISCTE/INDEG, where he completed a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management of Cities (2003), followed by a Master’s in Cultural Management of the Performing Arts: Music, Theatre and Dance from Universidad Complutense de Madrid/ICCMU (2007). In 2019, he obtained the title of Specialist through a public examination regulated by Decree-Law No. 206/2009 of 31 August, in recognition of his distinguished professional experience.

This blend of artistic and technical skills has enabled him to assume leadership positions in areas such as Marketing, Executive Management, Artistic and Pedagogical Direction, as well as consultancy roles in Cultural Management for various national and international institutions.

His extensive teaching experience across both subsystems of specialized music education (vocational and professional) as well as in higher education has strengthened his interest in pedagogical and educational dimensions. Holding a Master’s in Music Teaching from ISEIT/IPiaget (2017), he is currently a doctoral candidate in Arts Education in the joint program of the Instituto da Educação and the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, dedicating his research to music higher education institutions.

He teaches Trumpet, Orchestral Repertoire, and Chamber Music at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, where he also leads the Artistic Career Management course. Alongside his teaching activity, he currently holds the positions of Director of Studies at Metropolitana and Dean at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.

Outside the classroom and beyond project planning, you can find him swimming, cycling, or running as an amateur triathlete.
