Repertoire and Orchestral Excerpts

An Italian national, he was born in Verona in 1969. He studied at the Conservatorio L. Campiani in Mantova with Professor Fausto Pedretti, completing the Final Diploma in Bassoon (1990). He was a student of Professor Rino Vernizzi at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale (1991/92) in Saluzzo (Turin) and at the Corso per Professori di Orchestra in Bologna (1994/95/96). He attended masterclasses with Sergio Azzolini (Bobbio 1990, Fiesole 1990, Porto 1998). In 1991 he won first prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera di Asti and, in 1992, third prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera di Versilia. He won the competitions for the position of first bassoon in the Orchestra Filarmonica di Parma (1990) and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Savona (1992).

He has been a member of various orchestras, including the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Orchestra Sinfonica di Udine and Orchestra Rossini di Pesaro.

He has lived and performed in Portugal since 1996, where, after an open competition, he was appointed first bassoon in the Orquestra do Norte (1996), the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras (1997) and solo bassoon in the Remix Ensemble of the Casa da Musica (2000). In Portugal, he has collaborated with the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra do Algarve, Sinfonietta de Lisboa and Orquestra da Câmara Portuguesa.

He has taught at Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (ARTAVE), Escola Profissional de Viana de Castelo, Escola Profissional de Espinho, Universidade de Aveiro and Escola Profissional Metropolitana. He currently teaches at the Loures Conservatory of Arts, the University of Minho and the Metropolitana National Superior Orchestra Academy. Since 2000, he has been Bassoon Soloist with the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música.
