CAMERA MUSIC (PERCUSSION)
Born in Arrentela (1986), in the municipality of Seixal, Marco Fernandes began his training in percussion at the Escola de Música of the Sociedade Filarmónica União Arrentelense. He continued his musical studies at the Almada Professional School of Music and Arts with professors José Carinhas and Lídio Correia, and at the Music School of the National Conservatory with professors Carlos Voss and Carlos Girão. In 2005 he joined the Lisbon Superior School of Music, where he worked with teachers Carlos Voss and Abel Cardoso. Completed a Degree in Music – Interpretation Branch (Percussion Variant) at the University of Évora, with Professor Eduardo Lopes, and a Masters in Music, Specialty Percussion, at the Lisbon Superior School of Music, under the supervision of Professor Pedro Carneiro.
He has collaborated with the following formations: Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, OrchestrUtópica, Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, Lisbon Film Orchestra, Ensemble Mediterrain, Lusitanus Ensemble, Ensemble Lisbon Contemporân Ensemble 20/21, Lisbon Clarinet Quartet, Lopes-Graça Quartet, Artemsax Quartet, Moscow Piano Quartet and Brass Factory, among others.
He is currently Coordinating Professor at Metropolitana (National Superior Academy of Orchestra, Metropolitan Professional School and Metropolitana Conservatory of Music) and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Music Department of the Escola d’Artes of the University of Évora. He is also Artistic Director of the percussion group «Percussions da Metropolitana» and of the International Percussion Competition of Beira Interior.
He is an artist for the brands Innovative Percussion Inc., Majestic Percussion and Zildjian Company.
