ORCHESTRA REPERTOIRE AND EXCERPTS (VIOLIN)
He began studying piano at the age of eight, moving to clarinet shortly thereafter.
In 1990, he began studying the violin at the Escola Profissional de Artes in Mirandela, in the class of Professor António da Cunha e Silva. He continued his higher studies at the Superior National Academy of Orchestra, where he completed his degree in the Violin class of Professor Aníbal Lima. He participated in masterclasses with professors Gerardo Ribeiro, Zakhar Bron, Sergei Kravchenko and David Ovchareck, among others.
He was selected for international youth orchestras such as the Orchester des Jeunes de la Mediterranée, Aberdeen Festival Orchestra and Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, with which he performed in some of the most emblematic rooms in Europe. He performed as a concertmaster and soloist with the Orquestra Esproarte and the Orquestra Académica Metropolitana.
He was awarded the 1995 Best Student Award by the Civil Government of Bragança. It won 1st Prize at the Maurice Raskin International Competition (Belgium, 1996). He founded the Esproarte Quartet, with which he also won 1st Prize in the Young Musicians Competition (Medium Level / 1996), and was a semi-finalist in the International Competition in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Integrated in several formations, and also as a soloist, he performed in several countries, such as Canada, Scotland, Holland, Switzerland, France, Spain, Austria, Germany and Angola.
He was the author and director of the work História da Música no Palco, produced by the Santarém Music Conservatory and premiered at Teatro Sá da Bandeira.
Since 2002 he has been a member of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. Currently, he teaches at the Metropolitan Professional School and at the Superior National Academy of Orchestra. He attended the Master’s course in Instrument Pedagogy at Metropolitana/Universidade Lusíada. He is a founding member of OUTRARTE, a multidisciplinary project aimed at designing and implementing innovative programs.
