Instrument Performance for Orchestra

ACADEMIA NACIONAL SUPERIOR DE ORQUESTRA

OPTION
INSTRUMENT PERFORMANCE FOR ORCHESTRA

The Instrument Performance for Orchestra option in Bachelor Music Degree lasts for three years and prepares its graduates to successfully face the demanding and competitive labour market in which the profession of musician is exercised. The curricular structure, divided into two areas of specialty, Wind and Percussion Branch and String Branch, is based on a strong practical component in which individual technical and artistic performance tends to be directed towards the practice of instrumental ensemble, particularly in the field of orchestral performance.

The teaching staff is composed mainly of musicians with extensive experience in orchestra; many of them are the members of the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. Along the course, students regularly meet at the Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, thus taking advantage of a valuable pedagogical resource that provides them with an intense and effective learning, greatly reinforced by the performance of about two dozen public concerts each year.
